The initiative aims to save more than 100 million lives by preventing heart attacks and strokes and will also help countries improve epidemic preparedness and response. The initiative will be based at Vital Strategies, a New York-based global health organization.

We applaud Dr. Frieden, Bloomberg Philanthropies, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for their strong and innovative leadership in taking on several of the biggest public health threats facing the world today. This initiative will put in place proven strategies that will save more than 100 million lives and improve health around the world.
